The Gnomon Workshop has released Complete Photogrammetry Workflow, an in-depth guide to scanning objects from the real world for use in virtual and augmented reality applications, games or VFX.
The workshop, which comprises over three hours of video training, was recorded by Charleston Silverman, lead digital projects engineer at mixed reality production firm Digital Nation Entertainment.

Silverman reveals how to recreate real-world objects in 3D via photogrammetry, using industry-standard software including Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw and Adobe DNG Converter to process the raw images.
The workshop concludes by bringing the textured models into Unreal Engine to assemble a 3D scene, but the same techniques could be used with any renderer.
Silverman also reveals a range of expert tips, from the dos and don’ts of capturing source photos to subtle details to pay attention to when adjusting and processing images.
As well as the training videos themselves, viewers can download the project files for the workshop, including the raw photos, meshes, photogrammetry projects, Substance files and the Unreal Engine scene.
