Online asset library ProductionCrate has begun releasing a new series of free VFX Starter Packs: collections of stock effects elements for compositing into visual effects and motion graphics projects.
The first pack features 50 readymade effects from its explosion, magic, fire and sparks, sci-fi and muzzle flash effects libraries, and its collection of motion graphics and transition effects.
Free full HD and 4K stock effects, packaged as single downloads
ProductionCrate already has over 500 free stock effects elements available to download, but if you’re on a free account, you’re limited to five downloads per day.
The new starter packs package effects into single downloads, making it possible to get them all in one go.
In addition, they contain several assets at 4K resolution normally only available to users with Pro subscriptions: most of the site’s free assets are provided at full HD (1,920 x 1,080px) resolution.
Formats vary: all effects containing transparency are ProRes 4444 files, while “a few” of the other files are H.264, and frame rates vary from 30fps to 60fps.
What’s in each pack?
VFX Starter Pack 1 contains 50 readymade effects from ProductionCrate’s explosion, magic, fire and sparks, sci-fi and muzzle flash effects libraries, and its collection of motion graphics and transition effects.
Packs 2 and 3 are “planned for 2023”
