Enscape has announced Enscape for Mac, a new native macOS edition of its popular real-time rendering and virtual reality plugin for architectural and CAD software.

The new edition, which was announced at Envision 2021, will ship in 2022 is now available.

An intuitive real-time renderer for architectural design and CAD software
First released in 2015, Enscape has quickly become one of the key tools in the architectural visualization market, reaching the top ten in the latest CGarchitect rendering survey.

The software live links to CAD and architectural design tools including Rhino and SketchUp, enabling users to explore large architectural scenes in real time, either on screen or in virtual reality.

The output is ray traced, and can be used for less demanding final-quality rendering, with the option to generate still images, animations, 360-degree panoramas or interactive scenes.

The software comes with its own time of day, clouds and atmospheric effects settings, and an accompanying library of over 2,500 assets like plants, vehicles and 3D people for populating scenes.

New native macOS edition: now available for SketchUp users
Although Enscape can currently be used on Apple hardware via Boot Camp, the new native macOS edition should improve performance on Macs.

The initial release is limited to SketchUp users: Enscape plans to add support for other applications in future.

According to Enscape, the beta currently has “around 70% feature parity” with the Windows version, lacking support for VR, video rendering, batch rendering and the Enscape asset library.

Pricing and system requirements
Enscape for Mac is compatible with macOS 12.2.1+, and is available for SketchUp 2021+ only.

The current production release, Enscape 3.4, is available for Archicad 22+, Revit 2019+, Rhino 6.0+, SketchUp 2019+ and Vectorworks 2020+ running on Windows 7+. It works with both AMD and Nvidia GPUs.

The software is rental-only, with node-locked licences costing $514.80/year and floating licences costing $898.80/year.
