Eye candy: Maxon’s IBC 2020 Cinema 4D demo reel

Tying in with the release of Cinema 4D R23, Maxon has posted its IBC 2020 demo reel, showcasing the best recent work created using the 3D animation and motion design sofware.

It’s a surreal, colourful two-minute trip, ranging from movie effects to motion graphics, created by companies of all sizes, from big studios like The Mill to individual 3D artists.

A blast of colourful motion graphics and animation work
Of all the major software developers’ showreels, Maxon’s is reliably the most visually diverse, if only because it features so much experimental and short-form work.

Aside from Cantina Creative’s UI designs and Imaginary Forces’ title sequences, there isn’t a lot of movie or episodic broadcast content on show: more motion graphics, commercials and shorts.

Studios featured include Cinema 4D stalwarts like Aixsponza, The Mill and Tendril, alongside smaller firms like Dazzle Ship and the brilliantly named Already Been Chewed.

But as the individual designers featured on the reel prove, you don’t need a team to create great work.

Our own personal highlights included Jessica Herrera‘s appealingly simplified characters, Szu-Yu Hou‘s stylised creature designs, and Peter Tomaszewicz‘s surreal fusions of everyday objects.
