Maxon has begun releasing its 2023.2 updates to its Red Giant collection of effects plugins.
The initial release is Trapcode 2023.3, a performance-focused update to the set of motion graphics and VFX plugins that features “moderate” improvements to particle effects tool Particular.
The other products in the suite, Magic Bullet, VFX, PluralEyes and Universe, haven’t been updated yet.
Trapcode 2023.2
Trapcode, Maxon’s motion graphics and VFX plugins for After Effects, gets “moderate” improvements to performance in 3D particle effects tool Particular.
Specific changes include reduced loading times after the initial load, and better performance when animating the Physics Time Factor in combination with the Turbulence field.
There is also a new Linked Null workflow, which makes it possible to select which 3D layer in an After Effects comp to link a Particular null to when the plugin creates one.

Pricing and availability
The Red Giant 2023.2 plugins are available for Windows and macOS, and are compatible with After Effects 2021+. Individual products are compatible with other host applications, including DaVinci Resolve.
All of the products are rental-only, and are available via Maxon’s Red Giant subscriptions, which cost $79/month or $599/year, or Maxon One subscriptions, which cost $149/month or $1,199/year.
