F12 has announced the release of The Grove 11, the latest version of its procedural tree modelling add-on for Blender.
New features include geometry nodes for twig duplication, and simulation layers are now written to attributes – two transitions that offer more creative freedom, speed and efficiency. It is now possible to see the tree grow while the simulation is running and an extra layer of wind is available to add a breeze effect to the twigs, the groves terminology for the final small branches and leaves. Several improvements have been made to existing tools alongside newly added tools like stash and undo.
This release also sees a new roots tool to automatically create root systems for trees. Find out more and read some interesting background information that underpins development on The Grove’s website.
